POST-PROFESSIONAL MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE

PROGRAM DETAILS

Post-professional Master of Science program

Boston University College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College post-professional Master of Science program is now offered in a distance learning format. This innovative program allows students to earn their Master of Science degree without disrupting their careers or relocating their families.

The mission of the post-professional Master of Science program is to increase practitioners' ability to use current theory, research, and knowledge of health and social service systems to guide clinical practice, and thus to prepare them to develop innovative and effective intervention and service programs.

Through the program students will:
  1. Examine current practice in relation to the guidelines of the existing Occupational Therapy Practice Framework for occupation-focused, client-centered, and evidence-based occupational therapy.
  2. Make effective use of scientific evidence to guide clinical reasoning.
  3. Apply management skills to design, market, and evaluate the quality of clinical services.
  4. Plan and conduct educational programming for clients and their caregivers, peers, students, policy-related bodies (local, state, and federal), and the general public.

The post-professional Master of Science program enables applicants to meet these objectives by building on the knowledge and skills acquired in their BS-level professional program and during clinical practice. Courses require students to use this foundation to develop more advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to support their role as effective practitioners.
