This program is open to graduates from any ACOTE accredited baccalaureate occupational therapy program, or (for International applicants) graduates of a WFOT approved BA/BS program. Graduates of US programs must have passed the NBCOT certification examination. International applicants must have met all requirements for practice in their own country. In addition to graduation from a WFOT approved BA/BS program, admission into the MS program will require:
- Two professional references attesting to the applicant's clinical experience, job responsibilities and leadership potential.
- A personal essay regarding career goals and how the MS program will support those goals.
- An essay detailing the proposed focus of the applicant's program, including area of practice that will be the focus of development efforts.
- 3.0 GPA from an accredited entry-level program.
- Formal transcript.
- At least three months of full-time equivalent clinical employment after completion of Level II Fieldwork.
- $100 application fee.
The program involves several practicum courses that are designed to support immediate application of didactic courses to practice contexts. Therefore, students must be employed at least part-time in a health, rehabilitation, or human services field at the time of matriculation.
Documentation of employment must be submitted prior to registering for the first course. Students for whom English is not the primary language will also need to meet additional criteria related to language proficiency. Specifically, they must achieve a minimum score of 213 on the TOEFL and a minimum score of 5.0 on the Test of Written English. Applicants who believe that their prior education has encompassed any of the courses that form part of the required MS curriculum will need to submit documentation of their knowledge and skills in the relevant area for review. The decision to waive any course will be individualized, and may require substitution of an appropriate alternative. For the most current information on tuition and fees, see the supplement.
